About me

I’m a nutrition coach and writer based in Brodick on the Isle of Arran. After my own health struggles, I decided to study nutrition. I hold the Diploma in Culinary Medicine from the Culinary Medicine College and I am registered with the Federation of Holistic Therapists. My education taught me science-based methods to support the body’s optimum functioning. I am not a nutritional therapist, so I can’t offer diagnosis, testing or supplement prescriptions, or develop treatment protocols for specific conditions. What I can offer is empathic, researched and bespoke nutritional and lifestyle advice that will help you meet your health goals and optimise how you live day to day

I believe that healthy eating is simply an enjoyable way of living. It doesn't need to be complicated, expensive or stressful. Nutrition should be affordable, delicious and energy-giving. But we all respond differently to food, and need to find the foods that best nourish us. This is why I take a holistic approach to health that combines nutritious meal planning with relaxation techniques such as yoga nidra and self-massage, mindful movement such as vinyasa and yin yoga, gentle weight training, and daily walks in the fresh air. I'll be there for you, and help you through any challenges.

I've supported clients with a wide variety of needs and lifestyles. Read what some of them have to say here*.

"I’d been finding it hard to keep my blood sugar levels normal due to diabetes so started looking for support as I’ve found the internet to be a minefield of good and bad advice. I found Emmy and since having a consultation and putting things into practice, I’ve found my overall health is starting to get a lot better, I generally feel good too! She’s got a very down to earth style and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the service!"

"I like to think that I am someone who has always enjoyed home cooking and healthy eating but as I got older I started to experience some food intolerances - a miserable experience which spoils the joy of eating. This made me more conscious of my daily diet and its impacts on my body as a whole so I decided to arrange a discussion with Emily at Heather Lodge for advice.

Prior to booking a session with Emily I was invited to list everything I ate for three days. Emily is very knowledgeable about food in general and healthy eating. She discussed in detail with me the impacts on body and mind of the food I currently eat, some of which were surprising. She also offered helpful advice regarding foods I hadn’t tried before. I found my session with Emily enjoyable and helpful and it has inspired me to try out foods new to me.

Ideally, we would all eat healthily from birth but often we only seek support when something goes wrong with our digestive systems and we become ill. Emily offers tailored advice for all ages which can help your general well-being as well as specific issues."
